Does God like baseball? Let’s see. Church is kinda like baseball. It’s a concerted effort. Everyone has to pull together for the win. The coach is like your pastor, He keeps the players on their toes. Now the general manager, He’s Jesus, He inspires the players to do greater things. The owner, who you hardly ever see, well He sits up there in the sky box looking down at everything, evaluating the players.
The starters are His best players, and then you have your bench. They want to be starters, but they’re just not ready. So during a game a starter gets hurt. Now a 2nd starter gets his shot, he’s ready to shine at last. He steps into the batters box, looks down the line for a sign from the coach. It’s a sacrifice bunt. The batter can’t believe what he is seeing, his chance to show what he’s got has been dashed. He follows the coaches sign and makes the sacrifice and a base runner scores. The team wins! The manager sees that the man who sacrifices himself is the guy He wants as a starter, and let’s the owner know it.
So does God love baseball? Not really, but He does love the players!!!
